Inlclusion Policy
All children are welcome including, but not limited to, children with special needs. Children of all abilities will be accepted and we will be responsive to each child's individual capabilities and needs. Materials and equipment are appropriate and adapted for children of varying abilities, interests and needs. The goals for assisting children with additional support needs are carried out during play experiences with peers and staff.
Penny & Bear Family Childcare does not deny services or discriminates against persons based on race, sex, religion, national origin, or disability. We support all federal and state legislations regarding the absence of discrimination. However, we have the right to deny our services to anyone at any time.
Child Care Policy
We maintain an open door policy for parents during daycare hours. This means that parents have unlimited access to their children and providers caring for their children during normal hours of operation and whenever the children are in our care.
We also have a non-religious worship policy. This means, the child care and development services being provided do not include religious worship.
Since we offer nutritious meals and snacks, there is no outside food allowed unless there is an arrangement with parents. This is due to allergies, and if brought unnoticed and it is shared it can become a choking hazard.
We also work according to the Manual of Policies and Procedures from the Community Care Licensing Division to provide preventive, protective, and quality services to children in care by ensuring that our licensed facility meets established health and safety standards.
Enrollment Policy
Prior to your child’s first day, is important to have a meeting so I can answer any questions and give you a tour of the facility. This is also a good opportunity for your child to meet me and possibly play with other children.
There are several forms that must fill out and signed. The information on these forms will allow me to provide the best care possible for your child. The forms include:
-

-

Physical Activity Policy
Nutrition Policy
At Penny and Bear Family Childcare we recognize that all children need enough active playtime, indoors and outdoors, throughout each day to develop and practice gross motor and movement skills appropriate for their age and that active play includes moderate to vigorous activities such as rolling, crawling, scooting, running, climbing, dancing, hopping, galloping, skipping, and jumping. Our staff model healthy, active behaviors by participating in physical activity with the children as much as possible.
As a commitment to your child’s health, we follow these guidelines:
-
Meals and snacks served to children meet the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) meal pattern requirements
-
We serve a variety of healthy foods with emphasis on plenty of whole grain breads and cereals, fresh fruits and vegetables and protein from both animal and vegetable sources.
-
We serve foods of high nutrient value. We limit high fat, high sugar foods that are low in nutrient value, in an attempt to help children learn to enjoy healthy foods.
-
Meals and snacks are offered to children at least every 2-3 hours.
-
We strive to make our mealtime environment pleasant.
-
We serve family style whenever possible because it is important for children to learn to serve themselves.
-
We serve and honor birthdays with special treats.
